Donut Forget About Your Staff!

June 5 was National Donut Day and the team at HR Ministry Solutions wants to wish a very happy National Donut Day to all who celebrate (and we think that should be everyone!). Just for fun, we surveyed our staff on favorite donut:

Liz | HR Project Coordinator | Donut Traditionalist
She doesn’t need any crazy toppings or weird variations.

Christine | HR Project Coordinator | Sprinkle Specialist
Prefers the special ones with fancy ingredients and decorations on top!

Tiffany | Chief People Person | Donut Connoisseur Extraordinaire
Her favorites, in order, are coconut and anything but maple.

Maple and blueberry cake donuts ranked among the top contenders among the rest of the staff and we found some common ground in that EVERYONE likes donuts.

So if you do make a donut run this week, grab some for your staff!  It may sound silly, but a simple box (or boxes) of donuts is an easy and low cost investment that can go a long way to show your staff you appreciate them. Here’s a few other ideas for free or low cost ways to care for your staff:

  • Drop a note or favorite snack by their desk. This shows forethought to pause in the middle of a busy work day to express your appreciation and for them to receive it.

  • Give a bonus day off. This could be an organization wide day of rest after a big event or a mental health day your staff can bank for when they need it most.

  • Offer public recognition when it’s due. Whether in staff meetings or an all staff email, highlight those who are really shining. Receiving a “thank you” can go a long way.

  • Model healthy work life balance. This comes easy to some and near impossible to others, but it’s essential in a healthy staff. From the top down, remind (or establish) a work hard/rest hard mentality so your staff’s lives remain in healthy balance.

We care about the way you care for your staff, so we have a ton of free resources on our website we think might help you do just that:

  • Webinars on topics like compensation, leading the next generation, burnout, etc.

  • Toolkits on topics like hiring, benefits, and how to write a job description.

  • Blog with articles on topics ranging from recent legislation to healthy termination.
