2026 Hawaii Midyear Roundup
Beginning July 1, 2026, the Hawaii Family Leave law (HFLL), which applies to employers with 100 or more employees, will cover leave for a qualifying military exigency.
A qualifying military exigency means leave related to active-duty service by an employee’s child, spouse, reciprocal beneficiary, sibling, grandchild, or parent, such as leave needed to make financial arrangements, attend military ceremonies, and handle legal matters related to deployment.
HI S 3082 was signed by the governor on May 19, 2026.
