A Healthcare System for Your HR

Conversations with an HR expert are available through both Consulting and HR On Call. We’ve found the easiest way to explain the differences between these two is a health care analogy (fitting, don’t you think?).  HR On Call is like paying premiums for health insurance, while Consulting is like an emergency room visit for a sudden or unexpected health need.


Consulting Calls

A Consulting call is like a trip to the Emergency Room: there is a pain that needs to be addressed. NOW. This is a one-time service, scheduled as needed. The upside is you get quick access to someone with ministry HR experience and practical answers. It’s significantly more comprehensive and trustworthy than an online search and can help you move past the moment and mitigate risk right away.


But, just like an emergency room visit, a Consulting Call pairs you with an unknown provider that doesn't have your health history and results in a higher one-time bill. Our HR experts have experience with different churches and organizations–each has been around the block more than a couple of times–but your HR history is complex and a crucial piece of the puzzle, whatever the crisis may be. Not having the full story means they may not have the context needed to bring the best solutions to the table. While the $139 an hour rate isn’t nearly as high as an ER visit, you’ll likely want to give them an abbreviated version so the bill doesn’t keep creeping higher.


HR On Call

HR On Call, on the other hand, is similar to health insurance: you pay monthly premiums, receive free well checks with your dedicated Primary Care Physician and have online portal access to other medical staff who have basic, general knowledge. HR On Call is an ongoing monthly service that pairs you with a dedicated HR Advisor that sticks with you. This means they’ll learn the HR history, situations, and concerns unique to your organization, enabling them to provide even more customized solutions through scheduled monthly meetings. You’ll also have unlimited access to the HR Support Center where you can submit questions to HR generalists anytime, as well as utilize templates, how-to guides, articles and so much more.


At $150 a month, an HR On Call subscription is barely more than a Consulting Call, but with significantly more benefits. The only drawback is for smaller organizations who are already extremely organized and well versed in HR and just don’t need a monthly check up. We’ve found, generally, that for a church or organization with 3-5 staff members, consulting is likely a better fit.  HR On Call reaches its peak value for organizations with 10-15+ employees.
