Missouri Repeals Earned Paid Sick Time
Missouri's earned paid sick time (EPST) law, which was approved by voters last November and became effective on May 1, has been repealed. The governor recently signed a bill to repeal the law, which is effective August 28, 2025. Employees will continue to earn paid sick time until that date, and unless the state issues alternative guidance, they will be entitled to use those hours even after August 28. An update will be provided if additional useful information is released.
Action Item:
If you want to discontinue sick leave provided as a result of the EPST law, amend your current policies to include an end date for accrual.
