Oregon Updates PLO and Sick Leave

Oregon will update Paid Leave Oregon (PLO) and its sick leave law. Highlights are below.

  • Before an employee returns from PLO medical leave, employers will be allowed to require a certification from the employee's healthcare provider that they're fit to resume work. However, employers that require certification need to have a uniform practice of requiring it from all returning employees.

  • Employees will be able to use sick leave for any reason that's covered by PLO.
